At the antitrust division of the New York State Attorney General, Mario helped secure a $40 million settlement in FTC v. Vyera Pharmaceuticals and investigated the North East  Alliance  between  American Airlines and JetBlue


In private practice, he successfully defended clients against monopolization claims and investigations concerning  software licensing practices. He also acted in connection with the review of global transactions before the FTC, DoJ, and the European Commission. Among his most relevant experiences are the acquisition of SAB Miller by AB InBev, the attempted merger between The London Stock Exchange and Deutsche Börse, the recent acquisitions of The Binding Site by Thermo Fisher Scientific,  and VMware by Broadcom. 


Pro Bono. Mario assists non-profit educational organizations and individuals in the arts with copyright and trademark matters. For his pro bono services, he received the 2023 Empire State Counsel Award from the New York State Bar Association.


Credentials

Admitted to practice law in both the United States and the European Union, Mario graduated summa cum laude at the University of Perugia, Italy, where he also holds a Ph.D. His academic background is further cemented by his specializing degrees in intellectual property law from Queen Mary University of London, antitrust and information law from New York University School of Law, and the recent certificate-program in Artificial Intelligence from Cornell University.


He authored a book on the interplay between antitrust and takeover regulation in protecting investors in the market for corporate control and publications at the University of Oxford, Faculty of Law, and the Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute.


As a member of several Committee of the American Bar Association, Mario regularly contributes to the American Bar Association's publications on antitrust topics.
