CILC Structural Innovation: One Integrated Platform for Legal Services Across Jurisdictions

CILC is a New York-based legal consultancy platform with qualified attorneys in multiple jurisdictions specializing in antitrust, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property across markets.

CILC combines into one platform the legal expertise of attorneys with experience at international law firms and regulators (e.g., the European Commission and the Attorney General) and cutting-edge technologies to provide clients with cost-effective end-to-end solutions (for CILC's rates and fee structure, see below).

The firm’s model centers on
transferring intellectual capital, legal skills, and jurisdictional assets across geographic boundaries rather than maintaining physical offices and separate teams in multiple locations (for more info on the benefits of CILC's model, see below).  In simple terms, CILC moves brains, not brawn!

CILC is a forward-thinking, client-focused alternative to traditional large firms and less integrated boutiques. Its headquarters are in Chelsea, Manhattan.

Services

Core Service Offerings

CILC's primary service offerings focus on antitrust, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and sports law matters across jurisdictions. It provides regulatory guidance, compliance advice, and advocacy services in the United States and the European Union,  as well as advisory legal services for international business in China.

CILC attorneys enable nuanced navigation of divergent regulatory regimes and direct advocacy before courts and regulators in multiple jurisdictions without having to hire separate legal teams.  A single CILC attorney can simultaneously counsel on U.S. and EU merger control and investigations and act before regulators and courts in both jurisdictions, applying comparative insights to streamline client strategies. This contrasts sharply with conventional models requiring separate teams in each jurisdiction: for example, a U.S.-qualified attorney who is not admitted in an European Economic Area country cannot directly act as legal counsel before the European Commission in a formal capacity, and is required to collaborate with with EU-qualified lawyers.

Benefits

Benefits of the Integrated Model and Strategic Positioning

Securing Attorney-Client Privilege Across Jurisdictions

CILC’s ability to secure attorney-client privilege across multiple jurisdictions is a significant strategic advantage. Privilege rules can differ widely across jurisdictions, and what is protected in one country may not be in another.

For example: a U.S. Attorney without an EEA qualification cannot claim legal privilege for communications with a client in the EU—in general only lawyers qualified in an EEA jurisdiction can invoke EU legal professional privilege. By leveraging attorneys who are qualified in the relevant jurisdictions, CILC helps ensure that confidential communications are protected, reducing the risk of inadvertent waiver or forced disclosure in case of disputes.  This proactive approach directly addresses a major concern for clients with business across markets and jurisdictions, who may otherwise face uncertainty or gaps in privilege protection.

Synergy Advantages of a Unified Platform

CILC’s model of providing integrated, cross-jurisdictional legal services eliminates the need for clients to engage separate counsel in different countries/jurisdictions. This approach delivers several key benefits over traditional models:

  • No Office Duplication: Clients avoid the inefficiencies and costs of maintaining multiple legal teams or duplicating resources in different regions.
  • Reduced Bureaucratic Overhead: A single point of contact streamlines communication, document management, and decision-making, minimizing administrative burdens.
  • Faster Coordination and Cost Control: By consolidating legal services, clients benefit from predictable, transparent billing and avoid the escalation of costs that can result from separate fee structures, overlapping work, and inconsistent strategies

CILC partnered with innovative technology companies to offer a unified platform for AI-powered solutions, all delivered under the supervision of experienced legal professionals. CILC operates in a "digital fortress" and delivers expert, technology-enhanced, and cost-effective solutions.
